However, since buying the Elite Pro 2 in February 2020, I'm now 6-7 months down the line and have started to notice the plastic creaking and the leather squeaking, even with the slightest movements, and even to the point of the microphone picking up the sound - This being said, friends in my party don't really hear it. The Elite Pro 2 does stand up against other branded headsets around the same price, especially given that it is a wired headset as I don't believe wireless technology is perfect. I've been using Turtle Beach for the last decade, never had a problem (other than sound/mic cutting out on the Stealth 600). If you can afford the extra, go for the Astros. Totally wireless, AND has 7.1 Dolby surround sound and two years subscription to the Dolby service via your Xbox or PC. If I could justify £250 on a headset, I’d go for the Astro A50s latest gen. It’s awful that it’s 2020 and Turtle Beach have been making some god awful headsets since then. If I could find another pair of those brand new, I wouldn’t even consider the newer models. The only reason for finding a replacement is after so long the headband has stretched and it’s no longer a tight enough fit and sound escapes a little. It has 7.1 surround sound (a lot of Xbox headphones don’t have that these days because Microsoft have done their own “surround sound” which doesn’t compare), and is wireless except for the chat cable which plugs into the controller.
I still own my Turtle Beach PX5 headset from 2011. The cooling ear cups are a nice touch and I gamed for hours without any discomfort across the top of my head or around my ears. The mute button is on a cable which is fiddly to mute in a sneeze and usually end up deafening my teammates before I can mute it! The amp is easy to use and doesn’t feel cheap, but for some daft reason Turtle Beach has put all settings except the volume on an app on your phone. It’s incredibly annoying for everyone else, and they can also hear their voices as an echo from my end. Even if the game volume is low and the mic is as far away from the ear cups as possible. Even fiddling with the settings means my teammates can hear all the game sounds coming from my mic. My biggest issue with this headset is the mic is overly sensitive.
